Mum floats pool pass idea

Outdoor pool passes could make it cheaper for families to cool off at Melton Waves this summer, if one mum gets her way.

Melton mother-of-three Simone Fisher has floated the idea with the aquatic centre, which is managed by Belgravia Leisure, to offer a summer season pass for families.

She said it would presently cost her $161 to take her family to the pool every day for a week.

“This is not affordable,” Mrs Fisher said. “I’m a mum of teenage boys and when we lived in Bacchus March we always had access to an outdoor pool in summer close to home.”

Belgravia Leisure also manages the Bacchus Marsh Leisure Centre, which offers a season family pass for $115.40 for two adults and three children for unlimited use of the outdoor pool from December to February.

“We’ve been warned of the potentially hot summer ahead,” Mrs Fisher said.

“I’d like Belgravia, together with Melton council, to make an outdoor pool season pass available for families.

“You don’t have to stay all day; you can come and go as you please. ”

Mrs Fisher said snakes and wildlife around waterways made it too dangerous for children to swim for free outdoors.

A Melton Waves spokeswoman confirmed that centre management was considering offering a season pass.
