Cr Southwick said: “On behalf of the council, staff and ratepayers of the Shire of Werribee I wish to add my congratulations to the Werribee Banner on its operation over the past 75 years and for the service it has afforded the residents of the community.”

October 15, 1997

Werribee Paralympic swimmer Brett Reid blitzed his competition at the national titles in Brisbane last week. Reid won a gold medal in the 100-metre butterfly, silver in the 50-metre backstroke and bronze in the 100-metre butterfly. The 20-year-old and his family were thrilled with the performance.

The long-awaited Wyndham North police station is a step closer after last week’s announcement of the project site, a 4500 square-metre block in Sayers Road, Tarneit. The announcement follows the State Government’s assurance last month that the purchase of the site was imminent, after criticism by Wyndham Mayor Shane Bourke over project delays.
