Gisborne man injured in aggravated burglary

A Gisborne man has been left with serious injuries after being assaulted in his home last weekend.

The man took himself to Gisborne police station about 1pm on Sunday with serious but non-life threatening injuries, where he was taken to hospital.

Gisborne Senior Sergeant Paul Cliffe said the man had driven to the station immediately after being attacked in his house during an aggravated burglary.

Sergeant Cliffe said the attack was not random and the victim was aware of the motive.

“He knows why they came to bash him,” he said. “But he didn’t actually know the person personally.

“The Macedon Ranges CIU are conducting the investigation.”

“[The offender] hasn’t been caught at this stage.”
