Gisborne has announced that Brad Fox has left his post as head coach for the remainder of the Bendigo Football League season.
With three rounds to play, last year’s premiership winning coach Rob Waters will return to the position for the remainder of this season and the entirety of 2024.
After winning the flag, Gisborne has failed to live up to expectations this year, currently positioned just outside of finals contention in seventh with a 6-9 scoreline.
Via social media the club said the year has been challenging due to losing eight of the clubs premiership players as well as a host of reserves players that ate away at the clubs depth. The club said in most games the average age of its team had been under 21-years-old.
Waters originally decided to leave the role for work reasons and burnout from coaching throughout the Covid affected seasons. He was the club’s midfield coach to this point.
Gisborne will play top of the table Sandhurst on Saturday in what will be Waters’ return to senior coaching.
More to come.
