Wallan turned the tables on Riddell to win an elimination final on Sunday in the Riddell District Football League.

Having lost to the Bombers twice this season, including two weeks ago in round 17, the Magpies had a task on their hands at Romsey Park.

Despite the Bombers having the wind in the first quarter,  the Magpies led by 10 points at the first break.

They kicked away in the second quarter and led by 34 points at the main break.

The Bombers made some inroads in the third quarter, kicking four goals with the wind to reduce the margin.

It was always going to be a tough ask for the Bombers to come from behind in the last.

The Magpies made sure that wasn’t going to happen, winning 16.18 (114)-10.9 (69).

Corey Grindlay and Matt Perri kicked four goals each for the Magpies, with Chris Barton chipping in with three goals.

The four goals moves Perri to 96 goals for the season.  Perri kicked 124 goals for Leitchville-Gunbower in 2017.

Michael Mannix and Ricky Schraven were named the best of the Magpies.

Dylan Tarczon, who finished second in the league goal kicking behind Perri, capped off a good season for the Bombers, kicking five goals. Haydn Ross was their best.

The win sets up a knock out semi final match up with Romsey for the Magpies.

Wallan, who are looking for their first senior premiership since 1992, took the points in the one match between the sides, in a low scoring affair.

In the other semi final, Diggers Rest and Rupertswood will play off for a grand final spot.
