Sunbury produced some of its best bowls of the season to annihilate Werribee in Bowls Victoria pennant, division 1, section 1.
With a finals spot already assured for Sunbury, the last few rounds are about ensuring they are playing good bowls headed into finals.
On paper, the contest with fourth placed Werribee should have been a close affair, but it was anything but.
Sunbury won all four rinks on the way to a 128 (18)-56 (0) smashing of the Bees.
Wayne Long, who stepped up to skip this week, won his rink 36-16, while Carla Krizanic’s rink also had a 20 shot win, winning 35-15.
Mark Cowan’s rink won 30-13 and Todd Trewarne’s rink won 27-12 to complete the whitewash.
Sunbury’s David Glennon said Lisa Trewarne, who lead in Mark Cowan’s rink, was the standout on the day.
“She played exceptionally.”
Sunbury remains in third position heading into the final round. No matter the result in the final round, Sunbury will remain in that position.
Glennon said they hoped to continue that good form in the finals.
It was a good day for Sunbury all round with their second and fourth sides also having 40 shot plus wins.
The win for their second side seals their spot in division 3 next season.
Meanwhile, Sunbury Brad Janner is through to the next stage of the Bowls Victoria Champion of Champions, which is being held at Sunbury Bowling Club.
The competition pits the club champions against each other, to find an overall winner.
Janner defeated Nathan Lewis 25-24 to progress to the next round on Thursday.
Elise Cowan was knocked out of the competition in the first round.
