The Western Bulldogs fell short by a point against the Adelaide Crows on a sunny afternoon at Mars Stadium in Ballarat.

The match was low-scoring as the Bulldogs were beaten in scoring shots 23-17 and inside 50’s 58-53 while the Dogs were able to win clearances 46-37, but couldn’t use the ball well going forward.

Beveridge credited the Crows for their pressure which didn’t allow the Bulldogs to play their game freely.

“We just got to stay positive, we’ve got some challenges on our hands in various shapes and forms,” Beveridge said.

“You got to credit Adelaide their pressure game was very good, for a team to take 26 intercept marks, I don’t think that’s ever happened to our team over the journey.

“There were times when we didn’t use the footy that well and we were pressured into error but there were other times when we needed to be a little bit better.

“It’s a considerably inside 50 differential loss that we are not normally faced with, and again you got to give them credit for that.

“They were very good and we felt like they strangled us and didn’t let us play with any fluency and in the end a point (loss) is gut wrenching.”
