Turning trash to treasure

This weekend’s Lancefield Whole Town Garage Sale is a chance to turn “trash“ into treasure.

Hosted by the Lancefield Neighbourhood House, the one-day annual event invites residents to sell pre-loved or new items from their home.

House co-ordinator Viven Philpotts said about 30 families have registered their home to take part in this year’s event.

“We also have a car boot sale so if people don’t want to register their home but still want to take part in the event, they can bring their car to the Lancefield Men’s Shed and sell from their car boot,“ she said.

Ms Philpotts said the annual event was a great community day.

“On the day, we sell maps which show where the house are,“ she said.

“We have anywhere between 60 to 100 people who buy maps and shop. We also have people coming from Melbourne who look forward to the garage sale because they won’t come to Lancefield for just one garage sale.

“They come because there’s a whole town taking part in the event. The garage sale community is huge and all neighbourhood houses in the Macedon Ranges have their own Whole Town Garage Sale.

The garage sale is on Saturday, March 6 between 8am-noon. Maps can be purchased on the day for $5 at 76 High Street.
