Sunbury State Emergency Service volunteers are celebrating after the latest round of state government funding.
Last month, Sunbury SES unit was granted a further $190,600 for facility and equipment upgrades.
Sunbury SES unit controller Anthony White said the financial support was needed to keep up with Sunbury’s increasing population.
“The Sunbury community is growing and Sunbury SES needs to grow with it,” Mr White said.
“These grants will help ensure that the Sunbury community continues to have the best emergency response capabilities possible.
“This is a great day for not only Sunbury SES but also the whole Sunbury community.”
The money will help pay for a new shed containing two truck bays, concreting and sealing the unit driveways, a stretcher carrier, portable lighting, portable fridges and a sandbag-filling trailer.
The grant was part of round three of the state’s Emergency Service Volunteer Sustainability Grants program.
In June, Sunbury SES unit received about $50,000 to upgrade its security and driveway in the program’s second round.
Sunbury MP Josh Bull said he encouraged all Sunbury volunteer brigades and units to visit the Emergency Management Victoria website and apply for grants.
