Sunbury favourite furry friend

Move over Axle, the fidget spinning staffy, there’s a new cat in town.

Sunburys favourite staffordshire terrier, who went viral for balancing a moving fidget spinner on each of his nose and front paws, has welcomed a new Maine Coon kitten brother to Sunbury.

The seven month kitten named Ragnar, has had the community wrapped around his paws since becoming a local at the Brown Cow Cafe.

Owner Belinda Shipp said the community has been asking when Ragnar will be there so they can meet him, as they’ve never seen a cat like him.

“Ragnar travels in his own backpack that we carry, and he goes everywhere with us,” Ms Shipp said.

“[The community has] never seen anyone take a cat out the way we do, especially a cat that just sits there and isn’t scared of anything or anyone.

“He is with an agency as well for TV work, but as he’s just seven months he hasn’t been in one yet. I’ve always did it with Axle, I found it enjoyable [and] it made people smile.”

Ms Shipp said Ragnar loves joining herself and her husband on hikes, and while he only weighs 4.6 kilograms now, he is expected to triple in weight.

“We like to go camping and hiking and a lot of outdoor stuff and he was the perfect breed to get because you can teach them, Maine Coons are very smart.

“He’ll grow very big, his dad is 10 kilograms, so he’ll range between 12 and 14 kilograms and he’s already a metre long head to tail.

“My husband usually carries the backpack… and when he outgrows that, I’m sure we’ll move onto cat pram.”
