Quilters are ready to stitch up a storm in Gisborne.

Gisborne business Patch n Quilt will host a two-day event, Stitched Up in Gisborne.

Patch n Quilt owner Mary Kelly said the event would feature quilt designers and would give locals an opportunity to learn the craft.

“We’re showcasing a local quilt maker and designer and five guest speakers and they’ll be doing a general talk,” she said.

“It’s a first-time event, and hopefully it’s an annual event.

“There’s been nothing like this done on this side of the city. I just thought it was about time we organised something that was local.”

Ms Kelly said people are encouraged to bring their own hand projects to the event.

Morning tea and lunch will be provided and goodie bags will be handed out.

Stitched Up in Gisborne will be on Saturday, August 17 and Sunday, August 18, 10am-4pm at the Gisborne Mechanics Hall, Hamilton Street.
