The Gisborne War Memorial will keep the legacy of veterans alive for future generations in the Macedon Ranges.
More than $8500 – part of the state government’s Restoring Community War Memorials and Avenues of Honour Grant Program – will go towards upgrading the Gisborne War Memorial on Hamilton Street.
Construction at the site will include the installation of stone plinths with two plaques which will include names of men and women from the local area who served in World War II and other conflicts.
Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said the site was significant for Gisborne and surrounding towns.
“Macedon is home to so many veterans who have served us proud and we’re helping ensure their stories are never forgotten,” she said. “The Gisborne War Memorial is an important part of the identity of the township and it is fantastic to see funding to honour those … who have fallen defending our country.”
