Kooks loose in Kyneton

Sacred Heart College’s new production is a family affair.

Students are transforming the Kyneton school’s Mary Moloney Theatre into the spooky home of the kooky Addams family in preparation for the upcoming shows.

The Addams Family, best known from the 1960s television show, follows the lives of wealthy and enthusiastic Gomez, his wife, Morticia, and their strange children, Wednesday and Pugsley.

Students from year 7 through to 12 comprise the cast, crew and band.

They spent much of the June school holidays learning the show’s choreography and rehearsing the music.

Director Neville Bullard said students had been rehearsing since May and loved getting into the creepy Addams characters.

“The show provides a fantastic opportunity for students to put their acting, music and technical skills into practice,” he said.

“We have students co-ordinating all facets of the show, taking on roles including assistant director, stage manager, lighting and sound manager.”

The Addams Family will run from Thursday, August 23, to Saturday August 25, from 7.30pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2pm.
