Men who haven’t exercised for years, and sometimes decades, are finding renewed vigour thanks to a new fitness group.
About eight men aged from almost 30 to more than 60 are working out every Thursday as part of Sunbury Community Health’s men’s exercise group.
Physiotherapist George Vlachos says it’s a chance for men to use equipment such as stationary bikes, treadmills, freeweights, steps and medicine balls in a safe, social and non-competitive environment.
‘‘A lot of the guys are perhaps a little bit older, haven’t exercised in a while and might be dealing with chronic conditions so don’t feel comfortable in a typical gym environment,’’ he said.
The group exercises from 9.30-10.30am on Thursdays. Cost: $5. Details: 9744 4455
