Youth Engage Program to continue in Macedon Ranges

The community satisfaction survey showed residents want better sealed roads.

Young people can continue to benefit from Macedon Ranges’ Learning in Community and Youth Engage Program for the next three years.

The two programs, which have encouraged and supported youth to better their personal and professional wellbeing since 2015, will keep running through to 2020 thanks to state government funding.

Kyneton Community and Learning Centre’s Learning in Community program has received $120,000 from the state’s Engage! program.

The centre offers activities and training workshops in areas such as hospitality, event planning and risk management for anyone aged 12-25 years.

The Young Engage Program, run by Macedon Ranges council, has been given a $95,000 grant.

It offers weekly programs, events, activities, mentoring and workplace training for young people aged 12-18 years. The group meets in Kyneton on Tuesday evenings and in Gisborne on Wednesdays. The program provides social activities such as movie nights, as well as professional help such as resume writing classes.

Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas urged local youth to take advantage of these opportunities.

“I encourage more young people to get involved with the Kyneton Community and Learning Centre and Macedon Ranges Youth Engage Problem,” Ms Thomas said.

“These fantastic programs offer hands-on experiences for participants to achieve their personal and professional goals.”
