The COVID-19 pandemic won’t stop a Woodend resident celebrating all things spring.
Kylie Swain is hosting a virtual spring garden show on her Macedon Ranges Plant, Cutting and Seed Swap and Giveaway Facebook Group.
“You can enter anything in your garden,” she said.
“There are 22 categories for adults and there’s about five categories for kids.
“Everyone has taken a love to gardening, seeing people have had to hang around their home more often”
While the COVID-19 pandemic has put a pause to local events, Ms Swain wanted to keep find a way to keep the traditional local show alive.
“I normally enter lots of things into the Lancefield Show, Kyneton Show and all the shows locally around…I really missed it this year so I thought I could put on my own show,” she said.
“People post a photo and the members of the page vote … so it’s a bit of fun.”
Ms Swain has received more than 500 entries, with donated prizes from the community up for grabs.
“I’ve had one mum tell me her son is so excited to enter so if I can make one person excited then I feel like all my hard work has paid off,” she said.
“There’s heaps of prizes to be won too. The Woodend Library has donated dahlia tubes which is amazing.
“It’s just a fun community thing.”
Winners will be announced after voting closes at 5pm on October 6.
