Ranges writer a winner

Macedon Ranges writer Katherine Brabon won this year’s Vogel manuscript award. Brabon, 29, will have her first novel, The Memory Artist, published by Allen and Unwin and receive $20,000 prizemoney.

 

Woman killed in crash

A woman died and a man suffered serious injuries in a head-on collision on Kilmore-Lancefield Road, Springfield about 4.30pm Friday.

 

Fountain saved

A petition has helped ensure that Sunbury’s Village Green fountain is here to stay, with Hume council deciding to make improvements as part of works east of O’Shanassy Street.

 

Memorial service held

More than 700 people gathered at Hanging Rock last Tuesday for a memorial service for Sunbury woman Rachel Tyquin. Hume councillors also observed a minute’s silence for the Sunbury leisure centre employee.

 

Kynton Aero Club morning tea
