Hume council is undertaking a study of traffic issues within the Sunbury North area, bounded by Riddell Road, Bendigo Rail Line and Jacksons Creek.

Council is inviting residents to have their say about traffic issues within the study area which they would like to see council further investigate. The feedback period is open until Monday, September 12.

The best way to get involved is to respond using the online interactive mapping tool, allowing users to read the comments made by community members and add to the discussion.

Council is welcoming feedback related to traffic, pedestrians and cycling, parking, speeding, access and connectivity, parking, safety, cycling lanes and paths, parking congestion, footpaths and shared paths and more.

Council said issues related to Riddell Road are not within the scope of the study and are under the remit of the Department of Transport, as well as public transport infrastructure. New development areas east of Racecourse Road are also not within its scope.

The process of the local area traffic management study includes the seeking of community feedback (happening now), investigation and development of a draft plan to address issues and then sharing the draft plan with the community for feedback.

Council said funding of up to $233,000 has been proposed in the 2024-25 council budget to commence implementation of actions. Projects beyond the scope of the initial funding will be considered for future funding under council’s capital works program.
