Macedon Ranges council has appointed John Nevins as its acting chief executive.
Mr Nevins previously served as the chief executive at Kingston council for 15 years and has held positions as the city works director and strategic management and support director at Boroondara council.
As the acting chief executive, Mr Nevins will be focused on preparing for a new incoming council following the election, leading the organisation through the COVID-19 pandemic and engaging with the community.
Mr Nevins was assigned the role at a council meeting last month.
He said he was looking forward to the working together with the incoming councillors over the next six months while the council worked to appoint a permanent chief executive.
“With it’s vibrant townships, beautiful landscapes and historic character, the shire is a unique place with so much to offer,” he said.
“I am excited to get started and work in partnership with the new council and staff to make the shire an even better place to live, work and visit.”
Mr Nevins replaces the council’s corporate and community director John Hausler, who was the acting chief executive officer since September 16, following the resignation of Margot Stork.
