Nominations are now open for Macedon Ranges council’s 2020 Youth Awards.

The council’s corporate and community director John Hausler said the awards were a great opportunity to recognise and acknowledge the inspirational work for young people.

“We are so lucky in the Macedon Ranges to have such an engaged community of people, but some of the amount of time and work they put into creating positive change in the community can go unnoticed and the Youth Awards can change that.” he said.

Laura Crozier was awarded a Community Participation Award last year for her work around student voice and youth mental health and for her dedication to volunteer work with groups including the Victorian Student Representative Council.

“I have been fortunate to be nominated in the Youth Awards previously and I feel excited for all the young people who will be nominated this year,” she said.

“I would encourage everyone in the Macedon Ranges to think about the young people they know, and to nominate them in the 2020 Youth Awards.”

Young people can be nominated in the following categories: will power, good deeds, pure imagination, nicely played, skilling it and well aware.

Nominations are open for any person or group of people aged 12-25 who live, work or attend school in the Macedon Ranges.

Submissions close on Sunday, November 22 at 11.59pm.

The winners will be announced during an online event on Saturday, December 12.
