IN FOCUS: Steel yourself for some great advice

When Craig and Wendy Rutledge from Outdoor Steel Solutions were approached by Ranbuild – Australia’s pre-eminent shed company that has been around for more than 70 years – to take it over and service the Sunbury area, they readily agreed. Now there’s an Outdoor Steel Solutions store in town, with a fabulous new modern showroom.

Family-owned Outdoor Steel Solutions launched more than 15 years ago in Bendigo and, with the opening in Sunbury, now has five stores in all, 16 builders, eight staff in administration and eight sales/project consultants.

Each store sells all manner of sheds, garages and carports from the smaller domestic through to the large commercial sectors.

Craig says the Sunbury store offers all the services expected from a professional shed company; however, customers can also expect a “true turnkey solution”.

“We carry out professional site assessments and consultations, organise all necessary permits – including planning if required – lay the concrete, complete the construction using our own builders, do a site clean-up, and even sweep the shed when finished.

“We have staff who are trained in all things sheds. And, as our company mantra ‘Full Disclosure’ suggests, we want our clients to be fully informed and feel comfortable during the whole process.

“Our friendly team makes that happen, employing a consultative approach and keeping the best interests of the client in mind at all times.”

Craig and Wendy say they’ve invested heavily in the Sunbury set-up and displays in the showroom and are looking to grow the business using locally employed people. Right now, Ryan Watts is in the office after cutting his teeth in the Kilmore store.

Regional manager Nigel says Ryan has brought the knowledge and experience he has gained from working at the Kilmore store to the Sunbury store.

“Our clients can – and should – feel comfortable that Ryan knows what he’s talking about. He’s great for customers who might want to drop in and discuss their shed plans, while answers about permits and such are a simple phone call away from the wealth of knowledge based in our Bendigo store.

“Ryan might not be ‘on his own’ for long, though, because we’ll be looking for another consultant in the next six to 12 months, given the growth in and around the area.”

Outdoor Steel Solutions, 66-68 Horne Street, Sunbury (parking at the rear). Opens 9am-5pm Monday-Friday. Inquiries: 1300 447 076; email ryan@outdoorsteel.com.au or nigel@outdoorsteel.com.au
