From laughing out loud to classic cars and winter arts, here’s seven things to do around the north west this weekend.

 

Cherry Laughter Club

Where: Cherry Lake Altona

When: 10am Saturdays

They say laughter is the best medicine and now people can get their weekly dose in Altona. Altona’s Carolyn Nicholson has started the Cherry Laughter Club, which meets at Cherry Lake every Saturday morning.

 

Woodend Winter Arts Festival

Where: Assorted venies around Woodend

When: June 10-13

The release of an anthology of poems, birthed by the Macedon Ranges’ Chamber Poets movement, will share billing with internationally renowned musical performers and literary talents as part of this weekend’s Woodend Winter Arts festival.

 

Wheels 4 Kids

Where: Masters, Sunbury

When: From 7pm, Sunday, June 12

More than 300 street machines from all eras are expected park in Sunbury to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital this Sunday night. Gold coin donation.

 

Aubrey Comben

Local

Where: Wyndham Art Gallery

When: Until June 26

Mother and son Sue Anderson and Aubrey Comben have teamed up to present Local, a series of paintings, ceramics and photographs that depict the area’s historic roots and people, and its growth of more recent times.

 

Macedon Ranges Potters Group Exhibition

Where: Woodend Community Hub

When: 10am-4pm, June 11-13

Ceramic art, crafted using different styles, will be on display this weekend as part of the Macedon Ranges Potters group’s annual exhibition.

 

Legally Blonde Jr

Where: Wyndham Cultural Centre

When: June 10-11

Actress Natasha Jenkins will take the lead an entire under-18 cast in the role of Elle Woods in the Wyndham Theatre Company production of Legally Blonde Jr. 

 

Vintage children’s book display

Where: St Andrews Uniting Church, Bacchus Marsh

When: 12-5pm on Sunday, June 12, and 9am-1pm on Monday, June 13

Mavis Blackie has been collecting children’s books for the past five decades. The Darley resident and several others will display their children’s book collections, with some books dating back to the 1850s, at Bacchus Marsh next weekend.
