‘Drunk’ Sunbury woman crashes into signs

A Sunbury woman, 42, driving while drunk on Friday night crashed into street signs and gutters.

Police were called about an erratic driver who had crashed her car into a number of stationary objects on Mitchells Lane in Sunbury, 8.30pm Friday.

At the local police station, the 42-year-old woman allegedly blew a blood alcohol reading of 0.332 per cent, more than six times the legal limit.

Police suspended her licence and impounded her Ford Territory.

She will be summonsed for numerous traffic offences.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the woman had hit street sings and gutters in the area.

She was not believed to have been injured.

Police are out in force this weekend for Operation Regal, targeting driver distraction, fatigue, impairment, speed and seatbelts.

The operation began at 12.01am Friday and runs until 11.59pm Monday.
