The decision to come across from Lancefield to Romsey had been three to four years in the making for Chris Burkett, but the move was worth the wait.
After watching many grand finals in the past, it was Burkett’s turn for grand final success in the Riddell District Football League.
Burkett starred on the big stage, named best on field to receive the Doug McIntyre medal.
“It’s unbelievable and part of the reason I came over was for some success,” he said after the game.
“Obviously I had a lot of mates to come over to, but I still have a lot of mates at Lancefield too and I highly respect the Tigers.
“It is a bit of a blur at the moment it hasn’t sunk in at the moment. I wasn’t after the best on, just after the premiership. I’m so happy I made the move across.”
Burkett who made the move across with his brother Matthew Burkett said it was well worth it.
“It was a huge decision. It was three to four years in the making it has taken a long time and a bit of balls to do it, but well worth it.
“We love playing with each other and we play with each other in cricket together as well.
“I will be here for a little while now and hopefully there are more premierships to come.”
