The hills will be alive with the sound of folk singer Judy Small, performing in Macedon on June 17 as part of the Birds of a Feather LGBTIQA+ social gathering.
In celebration of Pride Month, Judy will be joined by Kyneton’s Rainbow Voices Choir – the first singing group for queer people and allies in the ranges.
She’ll perform her album ‘Let the Rainbow Shine’, documenting the lives and loves of lesbian and gay people, the tracks brimming with hope.
Birds of a Feather was created to provide a safe space for LGBTIQA+ adults in the Macedon Ranges to make meaningful connections, share stories and hear from guest speakers.
One of the organisers from Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health Nathan Allwood said previous Birds of a Feather gatherings have heard stories about belonging, allyship, community connections and ageing.
“The stories have been heartfelt, informative, moving, and with a good dose of humour thrown in. It’s been wonderful to witness how the sharing of stories provides a conduit for connection and self-discovery,” Nathan said.
The afternoon of music is happening at the Mountview Theatre in Macedon, doors opening at 1pm with a 1.30pm start. Entry is free and drinks are available to purchase.
Event organisers, the Country LGBTI Inclusion Program invite those attending to stick around for afternoon tea.
