COVID-19 alert for Sunbury shoppers

Anyone who visited Sunbury Square Shopping Centre last Friday afternoon is urged to get a COVID-19 test.

The updated advice was issued by health officials last night. The warning is for anyone who was at the shopping centre between 3.40pm and 4.30pm on Friday, February 5.

A new drive-through testing site in Sunbury at the former Masters carpark, on the corner of Vineyard and McDougall roads, opened this morning.

Testing sites are also open at Western Health’s Sunbury Respiratory Clinic, 29 Timmins Street and Sunbury Memorial Hall, Stawell Street and the Gisborne Senior’s Citizen Centre at 8 Hamilton Street, Gisborne will open today at 3pm to 8pm, and 9am-5:30pm tomorrow.

Seven sites in Sunbury were listed as high-risk COVID-19 exposure sites yesterday after a food and beverage hotel quarantine worker at Melbourne Airport’s Holiday Inn tested positive for coronavirus. The food and beverage worker developed symptoms on Saturday, but was only tested on Tuesday after being told she was a close contact of another case.

On Friday, February 5, the person visited PJ’s Pet Warehouse between 3.37pm and 4.10pm, Bakers Delight at Sunbury Square Shopping Centre between 3.40pm and 4.15pm, Aldente Deli at Sunbury Square Shopping Centre between 3.45pm and 4.23pm, Sushi Sushi at Sunbury Square Shopping Centre between 3.53pm and 4.28pm and Asian Star at Sunbury Square Shopping Centre between 3.57pm and 4.30pm.

On Saturday, February 6, the person also visited Sunny Life Massage at Sunbury Square Shopping Centre between 4.30pm and 6.30pm and Cellabrations between 6.17pm and 7.02pm and again the following day between 5.44pm and 6.19pm.

Anyone who visited the sites during these times must immediately isolate, get tested and remain isolated for 14 days.

Salesian College Sunbury and St Anne’s Catholic Primary School were also closed yesterday as a “precautionary” measure. Both schools reopened today.
