Families can soon book a play date at the Gisborne Toy Library.
The toy library is jampacked with toys for children of all ages available to borrow, but the COVID-19 pandemic and tough lockdown measures in 2020 forced it to instead offer a toy delivery and pick-up service.
Library committee member Alison Simmenauer said the toy library will soon be returning to in-person borrowing with residents able to book in a time to visit.
Ms Simmenauer said she was looking forward to have families back in the library.
“Toy libraries are a much better way of engaging with your children on a lot of levels,” she said.
“We can help support children from six months to eight years … and we have plenty of toys and lots of variety.”
“We choose to purchase environmentally-friendly toys so no electronics and we look for naturally sourced wood toys.”
Ms Simmenauer is also on the hunt for more volunteers to join the library’s committee as the new year begins.
“It’s a great way to give back and we really hope that we can find some more members. We are all volunteers,” she said.
The Gisborne Toy Library reopens on Saturday, January 30.
