Budding athletes are jumping for joy after Woodend Little Athletics Centre received $2800 to buy new sports gear.
The funds were raised through the sale of Coles Community Chiller Bags.
Club president Timm Butcher said the money would make a difference to the centre.
“With the Coles grant, we’ll be able to purchase collapsible hurdles,” he said.
“This will allow us to continue to hold hurdles as an event for this season as our current hurdles do not meet the new Little Athletics Victoria requirements.
“The hurdles will also help us to prepare athletes for regional and state events.”
Coles state general manager Mark O’Connor said Coles was thrilled to help the Woodend Little Athletics centre.
“The Woodend Little Athletics Centre told us they would like to receive a grant to buy hurdles and we were delighted to help because we know these are an essential part of Little Athletics to support young budding athletes.
“We have provided nearly $15,000 in sports equipment grants to Little Athletics centres across Sunbury and the Macedon Ranges and around $250,000 in Victoria over the past 12 months to help kids lead healthier, happier lives.”
