Shed jumps ahead

Romsey Men’s Shed members have been given 500 reasons to smile.

Shed president Steve Goodman said the shed was awarded a $500 grant from Australia Post.

Mr Goodman said Romsey Post Office owners Bill and Bahire Raif nominated the shed for the grant.

“They thought we were a worthy recipient of it and they put us in for it … we were lucky enough to get it,” he said.

The money will be used to buy a defibrillator and train shed members on its use.

Mr Goodman said it was important for big businesses to contribute to smaller organisations across the Macedon Ranges.

“To add to that, we’ve become a tax deductible situation where businesses who do want to contribute something, they can claim it on tax. And I think that means a fair bit,” he said.

“Bill and his wife Bahire Raif, down at the [Romsey] post office, they really do deserve a big thank you.

“They initiated it all.”

Mr Goodman said shed members continue to seek a permanent home.

Currently, they are using the Romsey Scout Hall as a base and are helping refurbish it for the Scouts.

However, Mr Goodman said they were on the lookout for a “place to put a shed.”
