Supershow success for Emma Burnett

Emma Burnett is building a solid future in fitness.

The Sunbury 20-year-old was a standout in the bikini category of the ICN Federation’s Muscle and Model Supershow in Melbourne earlier this month.

She placed fourth in the under 21 division and third in the novice section, qualifying her to compete at the World Championships in Queensland on October 28.

Burnett beat out 10 competitors in her bikini class and said she was against “a very tough line-up”.

She told Star Weekly that fitness saved her life.

“This is the first year of competing,” Burnett said. “I’ve been going to the gym since I was about 16 and decided to get more serious about it this year.

“A lot of negative things have happened to me in my life and I used going to the gym and keeping healthy as a way to help me deal with that.

“My goal is to get my pro card, by winning an open class, and then go on to coach.”

Just days out from the World Championships, Burnett’s gruelling regime includes training up to two hours a day with no days off and no “cheat meals”.

“It’s really hard and takes a lot of discipline,” she said.

“I’m leaning out at the moment which means eating only white meat and vegetables.”

She thanked family, friends, coaches and tanners for their support.
