Peak award for five Gisborne Scouts

Five Scouts from the 1st Gisborne Scout Group have earned their Australian Scout Medallion – the peak Scout award.

Fourteen-year-olds Georgia Langenberg, Lincoln Roberts, Alison Stockdale and Dylan Visscher, and 15-year-old Harrison Hughes received the medals last month, after taking part in a Scout leadership course and achieving the Adventurer cord.

Scouts Victoria Chief Commissioner Brendan Watson said each of the Scouts chose their own pathway, challenges and badgework to complete their medallion.

“The Australian Scout Medallion represent hundreds of hours of adventure, service and new skills, and requires sustained self-discipline and personal organisation,” he said.

“Only a small percentage of Victorian Scouts achieve this award each year, and it is a credit to the Scouts and their generous volunteer leaders who supported them in their journey.
