Breathtaking vistas: 32 Peck Court, New Gisborne 3438

By Carole Levy

Daffodils, the harbingers of spring, have raised their golden heads along the driveway of Roxbury, a property of about 4.86 hectares at the end of a cul-de-sac just out of town.

This is mentioned because Roxbury will look an absolute treat come spring, although at any time of year Mt Macedon and neighbouring ranges create picture-perfect, soul-uplifting vistas for residents here.

Tranquil and picturesque it may be, but the property is also ready for work. There are paddocks with electric fences, troughs and shelters, plus a stockyard, a good-sized shed with adjoining dog enclosure and a big chook shed.

The house, built in the late ’70s/early ’80s when they were made to last, has all its original features and lends itself well to adding an upper storey to take advantage of – and live up to – those peerless views.

Entry is under an elevated porch and through a door with amber sidelights to a carpeted entry way. Double doors on the right reveal a spacious lounge room with timber dado walls and large windows, the latter a feature all through.

Another set of double doors ushers in the dining room, which has a gas log fire set in a wall of white-painted brickwork; there’s also a split-system in here.

Then a third set opens to the kitchen-meals zone. A stainless-steel wall oven, 900mm electric cooktop and step-in pantry are kitchen features, with tiling reflecting its earlier era.

A tiled back verandah has been enclosed as a north-facing sunroom, a nice spot to sit and soak up the views. It accesses a walled courtyard where camellias and other ornamental shrubs add pretty greenery.

A hallway from the kitchen and entry way leads past a large laundry, separate toilet and the main bathroom with heated towel rail and original orange patterned tiling.

The three carpeted and fitted bedrooms are also along this hallway, the main with a split-system, walk-through robes and original en suite.

The property also has a double carport, ADSL2 connection, and Macedon town water believed to be the best drinking water around.

The train station and Montessori and Holy Cross Primary schools are within three-minute car trips, as are the food treats and cinema at Baringo Village.
