Macedon Ranges Seniors Festival

October is an optimal time to be an older member of the community.

The Macedon Ranges is hosting a number of events to celebrate this year’s Victorian Seniors Festival.

Mature-age residents can kick up their heels at the annual Riddells Creek Dance on Sunday, October 8, from 1.30pm at Riddells Creek Community Centre. Seniors have the chance to hit the dance-floor again at the annual Grey Light Dance at Kyneton Town Hall from 1.30pm, on Tuesday, October 24.

Local band Growing Up is Optional will perform music from the 20th century at both occasions.

Both Macedon Ranges seniors events are free, but bookings are required: 5422 0258.

Kyneton library will also host technology workshops on the internet, email and social media throughout the month. Bookings:
5422 1365.

Aquatic and leisure centres across the Macedon Ranges will offer free sessions. Visit mrsc.vic.gov.au/leisure for the schedule.

And to get to these celebrations public transport will be free for Seniors Card holders from Sunday, October 8 to Sunday, October 15.

Riddells Creek Senior Citizens president Margaret Hutchinson said that in previous years the seniors festival had always been very enjoyable, and was a great opportunity to meet other seniors from all across the region.

Ms Hutchinson said the Riddells Creek group would love to recruit more seniors to its weekly catch-ups.
