Beam me up, Scotty

A pedestrian and cyclist bridge is being built over Skeleton Creek in Truganina and Wyndham council is inviting residents to come down to watch five beams, weighing more than 20,000 kilograms, being lowered into place on June 29 and 30 from 7am-3pm. Wyndham council engineers will also be available between 9-11am to answer any questions. The best locations to view the beam lowering will be the reserve across the road from 9 Discovery Way, and the reserve across the road from 30 Distinction Crescent.

School holiday fun

Williams Landing Shopping Centre is hosting a range of events throughout the July school holidays. Week one will include story time with Australian children’s author Nikki Kelly.

West Gate Tunnel community forum

Find out more about the West Gate Tunnel at a community forum to be held on July 3 from 6.30-9.30pm at the Western Region Environment Centre, 80 Lonsdale Circuit, Hoppers Crossing. Greens MLC Colleen Hartland and Denis Nelthorpe from West Justice will be among the guest speakers.

Weight Loss Club

The Wyndham T.O.W.N Weight Loss Club aims to provide support and encouragement to all members to enable them to make healthy lifestyle changes. Weekly meetings are held at The Grange Community Centre, 260-280 Hogans Road, Hoppers Crossing.

Stallholders wanted

The Werribee Craft Festival is holding a two-day event on November 11-12 at Encore Events Centre, Hoppers Crossing, and is calling for applications from interested stallholders. Applications open on July 1 and close September 1.

Winter street party

See Werribee transformed after dark with light installations, music, movies, fire performances and traders serving up warming winter treats. On June 30 from 4-8pm, activities will be spread across Station Place, Wedge Street Piazza, Watton Street and the Cultural Centre.

Kids dance classes

Bounczn Dance Company, a youth not-for-profit organisation, is starting dance classes for anyone aged between two and 25 years at the Tarneit Community Centre during term three. Classes include creative movement, ballet, African and hip-hop.
