Gisborne origami artist Chieko Hester will model her creations in The Gallery Mt Macedon’s Wearable Art Parade.

Hester is one of more than 20 artists who will showcase their original Art to Wear pieces.

Curated by the Macedon Ranges Arts Collective, the fashion parade will showcase unique garments, scarves, hats and jewellery.

Hester will wear her origami earrings and pendants in the show.

But jewellery is not her main body of work.

Hester typically produces origami pieces which she displays in shadow boxes.

She said she created jewellery as an alternative way for customers to appreciate her Japanese style.

“For some people, if they don’t want Japanese pieces in their houses, they can wear Japanese works,” she said.

Some of Hester’s pieces are exhibited in The Gallery Mt Macedon, and she takes many of her artworks to Japanese festivals.

The Wearable Art Parade is on Wednesday, July 5, from 1-3pm at Jubilee Hall, Honour Avenue, Macedon.

Tickets are $25 and include afternoon tea and a glass of champagne.
