For ballet lovers

Join Melbourne City Ballet for a reimagining of one of William Shakespeare’s most popular works, Romeo and Juliet, at Kyneton town hall on August 19. Tickets are priced from $15 for students to $42 for adults.

LGBTI group

Mix and mingle at a social and support group get-together for transgender, gender-diverse, gender-fluid or gender- questioning people aged 12-25 who live, work or play in Macedon Ranges. The next gathering is August 23 at Woodend Community Centre, corner High and Forest streets, Woodend.

Trick or treatment

Pills and potions to fix anything from baldness to dimples are on display at the Trick or Treatment exhibition at Kyneton Museum. The exhibition explores the medical quackery that was rife in the Victorian era. Friday to Sunday, 11am-4pm.

Frock-up for garment history

Don’t miss this show of historic garments from Mount Macedon’s grand mansions, with pieces dated 1890s-1940s on show; 10am-noon at Gisborne Courthouse every Wednesday and Saturday this month.

Calling collectors

Learn the legal way to transfer large vinyl record collections and memories on VHS tapes to digital format to keep them safe and secure. There’s a workshop at Sunbury library on Friday, July 29, 10am-noon.

Cool for Kids

Help kids with cancer at a night of music, fun and dancing when The Naturally Cool Big Band performs at Sunbury Bowling Club from 7.30pm, August 20. Tickets: $30; proceeds to Royal Children’s Hospital.
