Gisborne teachers will brave the chill for Cure for MND Foundation

Former AFL player and coach Neale Daniher’s fight against motor neurone disease (MND) has inspired teachers from St Brigid’s Catholic Primary School in Gisborne to brave the winter chill and take part in an ice bucket challenge.

Tim Newman, Mel Daily, Eamon Light, Chek Stevens and Kathleen McCann (pictured) are aiming to raise more than $1000 to help the Cure for MND Foundation when pupils, parents and staff gather at 1.30pm this Friday.

The five will brave buckets of ice-cold water being poured over them in their effort to raise money and awareness of MND and its impact on lives.

From the fundraising page:

“As teachers, we are looked upon as role models and teaching in a Catholic school we understand about doing our bit to help out others in the community. Motor Nureone Disease affects many people and for every 2 people diagnosed, 2 people die. As such, Eamon, Mel, Chek and Tim are supporting the Cure for MND Foundation by raising awareness and funds to help fund vital Motor Neurone Disease research! On Friday 24th June we’ll be taking the plunge in The Big Freeze at St B’s. Please donate and help out a worthy cause. With your help we can slay the beast that is MND!”
