Keen volunteers from disability support service Windarring will ‘‘flag off’’ more than 100 classic cars taking part in Saturday’s Macedon Grand Tour.
Event spokesman David Ellis says it’s a great way to involve Windarring clients, who will wave cars on with flags as the rally drives past.
‘‘They’re very excited … it’s wonderful,’’ he says. ‘‘Quite a few of them really love their cars and were very keen to be involved.’’
Cars entered for this year’s tour will park in the Aitken Street service road from 7.30am before leaving Old Gisborne Courthouse at 9am.
The tour will pass through Riddells Creek, Hesket via Kerrie Valley, Mount Macedon, Macedon and then Woodend farmers market.
Cars will also stop at the Calder Freeway service road near Malmsbury about 4pm.
The procession will include about 20 Morgan sports cars, this year’s feature marque.
‘‘They’re a truly classic British sports car, that’s the best way to describe them,’’ Ellis says.
Also featured will be an old Bentley with handcrafted corrugated iron mud guards.
‘‘That’s the other end of the spectrum.’’
