Gisborne has set its sights on reaching the grand final in this season’s Bendigo Netball League.
After being knocked out in the A-grade preliminary finals in both the last two seasons, the Bulldogs are keen to make it to the deciding match in 2016.
Netball operation managers Sandra Stewart and Noelene Rymer said the club was again look strong across the five grades and hoped it would transition into results.
“We’re looking to be competitive across all grades and have the expectation of making finals and bettering their results from last year, when all the sides fell short of making a grand final,” the two said.
“Pre-season training has seen a varied training regime, with good numbers and a positive outlook across all levels.”
Robyn Baker and Rebecca Bridgman will coach the A-grade side this season.
They replace Simone Trevillian, who stepped up to the role last season when Kerryn Jorgensen had to move aside mid-season because of work commitments.
The side has kept together the core from the last couple of years, with Polly Salter the big omission after she moved to Queensland.
Kathie Dicker returns to the club after two seasons off, while Taylor Nelson, Maddy Gay and Rachel MacKenzie have joined, adding more strength and flexibility.
As well as handling the netball department, Stewart and Rymer will coach the A-reserve side.
Players Sammi Cooke, Rylee Connell and Megan Watt will coach the B-grade and B-reserve sides respectively, while Tarryn Rymer and Madeline Stewart will again coach the under-17s.
The Bulldogs kick off their season away at Kyneton on Saturday.
