Diabetes support talks

The Wyndham Diabetes Support Group will host a free forum to mark its 20th anniversary next week.

The Hoppers Crossing forum will feature speakers including representatives from Diabetes Victoria, a GP, a diabetes patient and Wyndham mayor Mia Shaw.

Convenor Bob Fairclough said the support group began in 2008 to provide diabetics with opportunities to share experiences, be informed about the latest information on the illness and hear from diabetes experts.

This group meets every second Friday of the month at the Kelly Park Community Centre in Werribee from 10-11.30 am.

“We’d like to encourage more people to attend,” Dr Fairclough said.

He said that the group would begin holding additional meetings next year at times more suited to people with jobs.

He said those meetings would be held at Kelly Park, most likely on the third Thursday of the month from 7pm.

The diabetes information forum will be held on Saturday, December 15, at the Central Park Community Centre, 80 Lonsdale Circuit, Hoppers Crossing from 10am-3pm. Those interested are being asked to RSVP by Wednesday, December 12. Light refreshments will be provided.

Contact Dr Fairclough on 0409 252 872 or Bobfair@bigpond.net.au for details.
