Macedon commuters have received welcome respite from winter’s icy chills.
A weather-proof shelter has been installed on platform two at Macedon station.
Also on the way is an upgrade to the station’s carpark to provide 110 new spaces and a new ramp and stairs to connect the carpark to platform one.
The parking area will get new lighting, CCTV and improved drainage to improve safety and amenity for those taking the V/Line train.
The coach interchange area will be improved to allow buses to more easily access the station.
While the work is under way at the station, the existing carpark off Victoria Street will be closed.
The carpark off Railway Place will remain open.
The Work is expected to be finished by August.
The upgrade is part of the state government’s $22.5 million Road and Rail Minor Works Program being delivered by VicTrack.
Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said the work would make Macedon station safer and more accessible.
“We are delighted to be able to deliver this shelter and carpark upgrades for commuters, who I know will welcome them during the cold winter months,” Ms Thomas said.
