Thunderstorm asthma meeting

Asthma Foundation Victoria will host a thunderstorm asthma community education session at The Grange Community Centre, 260-280 Hogans Road, Hoppers Crossing, on Wednesday, September 20, from 7-8.30pm. It will cover who is at risk of thunderstorm asthma, how to respond to a thunderstorm event, how to perform asthma first-aid, and the link between asthma and hay fever. Reserve your place at:

Wyndham Pet and Animal Expo

There will be cats and dogs galore in Werribee this month when the Pet & Animal Expo returns on Sunday, September 17, from 10am-4pm at the Wyndham Civic Centre, 45 Princes Highway, Werribee. Pet owners can take advantage of discount microchipping and free registration, while industry experts will be on hand to offer tips.

Anthony Callea appearance

Singer Anthony Callea will appear at Pacific Werribee on Saturday, September 9, from 11am to celebrate the release of his new album, Hits in Symphony.

Youth detention centre meeting

Community members are being invited to attend an information session about the new youth detention centre on September 11 from 5.30pm at Lot 1, New Farm Road, Werribee (the Melbourne Water Treatment Plant). Attendees will be able to visit a range of information booths and speak to representatives, ask questions and seek information about the project.

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Bookings or registrations are not required.

Get the music in you

Calling folk musicians and dancers – free folk sessions and traditional morris dancing are provided across different Werribee locations on two Sundays a month. All abilities welcome.

Community grocer

The Community Grocer, in collaboration with Wyndham council, has launched an affordable, fresh food market in Wyndham where shoppers can buy fresh fruit and vegetables for less than at supermarkets. The next market will be held on Thursday, September 7, from 3-6pm at the Youth Resource Centre, 86 Derrimut Road, Hoppers Crossing. Bring your own bags to reduce plastic use.

Parkrun

Wyndham Vale parkrun is a free weekly, five-kilometre timed run or walk for all ages and abilities. Meet at the Werribee Softball Pavilion, Presidents Park (McGrath Road, Gate 3), at 7.45am each Saturday for a short briefing. The run starts at 8am. Parkrun is not a race – you can run, jog or walk at your own pace.
