Children like grade three pupil Sophie will have stars in their eyes after they’ve weaved – or tried to – a million stars for an art project in Woodend. The stars will form an installation that will be suspended from the ceiling of Buffalo Stadium as part of the Woodend Children’s Festival. The One Million Stars project, devised by Samoan Australian artist Maryann Talia Pau, is intended to show how weaving can build relationships. The children’s festival, on July 27, includes art and cultural workshops and performances. Festival co-founder Gemma Rayner says the star-weaving project will give students a taste of what they can expect at the festival. Visit woodendchildrensfestival.com.au.
