Undermanned Riddell no match for Golden Point

An undermanned Riddell fell short in the Central Highlands’ Cricket Willow T20 division 1 grand final on Sunday.

Rescheduled from earlier this year, after the game was originally washed out, the Bombers had a battle before the match even started.

The Bombers managed to get just 10 players to make the trip up to Cricket Willow for the match against Golden Point.

The Bombers won the toss and elected to bat and had some solid contributions up the top of the order.

At 2-101 the Bombers looked to be in a good spot to launch an attack.

Instead, they lost their last seven wickets for just 22 runs, to be all out for 123 with an over remaining.

Daniel Fisk top scored with 49 including six boundaries, while Kyle Whitehurst chipping in with 30.

The Golden Point openers then had a field day, needing just 12 overs to chase down the runs.

They finished 0-125, with Manjula De Zoysa finishing 77 not out.

The win means Golden Point is through to the state T20 finals along with the winners from other regions across the state.
