Tournament success for Sunbury

After a couple of years off due to COVID-19, the Sunbury Netball Association’s biggest day of the year was back.

The association on Sunday held its yearly tournament with more than 50 associations from across Victoria making the trek to Sunbury,

Association’s Mel Lofts said there had been plenty of excitement in finally getting the tournament up and running again.

“Our first netball tournament post-covid was a tremendous success, and we owe it all to the incredible support we received,” she said.

“It’s heartwarming to see the netball community come together again after challenging times.

“A significant part of our success comes from the generous contributions of local businesses and our supportive families.

“Without their support, our annual tournament, which is also our most significant fundraiser, wouldn’t have been possible.

“Thank you to our major sponsor Rosenthal Estate for their contribution.”

Lofts said behind the scenes there was a remarkable group of volunteers and committee, who might be small in numbers but made sure the event went ahead.

“We were thrilled to welcome 50 association teams from across the state, comprising 500 players and countless passionate supporters. Your presence and enthusiasm made the day even more special.

“To all the netball families, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for making this day an unforgettable success.”
