Tigers draw first blood

Kyneton got off to a perfect start in the Riddell District Football Netball League.

This season the Tigers are competing in the RDFNL after completing a transfer from the Bendigo Football Netball League.

The A-grade netball competition kicked off just after midday on Good Friday, where the Tigers upset last year’s premier Woodend-Hesket 40-37 at home.

Claire Oakley shot 31 goals for the Tigers, while Abby Gilmore shot the same for the Hawks.

The focus then shifted to senior football, where the Tigers beat the Hawks 13.11 (89)-5.6 (36).

Ryan Pretty was the most damaging forward on the day with five goals for the Tigers, while Ethan Foreman booted three.

New Hawks playing coach Alistair Rae was named their best along with William Wiseman.

The remaining teams will complete round one fixture this Saturday, except for Melton Centrals which has the bye in round one.
