Thunder coach to kick on

East Sunbury has reappointed Steve Grey as senior coach for next season.

The club announced on Thursday that Grey, in his second season with the Essendon District Football League division 2 club, will stay on next year.

Thunder football manager Mark Hourigan said Easts wanted to continue the development they had made under Grey’s coaching.

“We’re trying to get the foundations right at the club and build on what we’ve already done,” he said. “We’re heading in the right direction with Steve … there’s been a lot of hard work over the past two years. Now we can concentrate on the season ahead.”

On Saturday, the Thunder’s three-game winning streak came to an end against East Keilor. After leading at half-time, Thunder could manage only four goals in the second half, losing 13.11 (89)-7.8 (50).

Thomas Galea was the only multiple goal-kicker, with two, while Lachlan Brne and David Johnson were named best in a loss that pegs Thunder at fifth on the ladder, two games outside the top four.
