Romsey managed to just keep its winning run alive, while Lancefield snuck home against Kyneton in the Centrals Highlands Bowls Division.

Undefeated this season, Romsey was pushed all the way by Broadford in a thrilling match on Saturday.

The teams won a rink each, while the third one tied. Romsey came away with the win, by one shot, winning 52 (13)-51 (3).

Matt Brundell was the winning skip for Romsey, winning 20-17.

The win keeps Romsey sitting clear at the top of the table, 21 points clear of second placed Lancefield.

Lancefield had a thrilling match itself on Saturday, just getting home against Kyneton, 52 (14)-48 (2).

Chris Jolly and Aaron Young were the winning skips for Romsey, while Mark Smoljo was the winning skip for Kyneton.

Gisborne had a solid win against Kilmore, taking the points 57 (14)-42 (2). Peter Williams and David Beardmore were the winning skips for Gisborne.

The win has Gisborne sitting in third position, with Kilmore rounding out the top four.

It was a tough day for Kyneton Golf against Trentham. While Peter Linehan’s rink had a big win for the Golf, there was little other joy as it lost 17 (14)-50 (2).

In division 2, Diggers Rest defeated Gisborne 2, Romsey 2 defeated Woodend, Kilmore 2 was too good for Macedon and Kyneton 2 beat Broadford 2.

Macedon 2, Gisborne 3, Romsey 3 and Trentham 2 were the winners in division 3.

In the Bowls Victorian weekend pennant competition, Club Sunbury remains undefeated after five rounds.

On Saturday, Club Sunbury beat Bundoora RSL 2, 87 (16)-64 (2).

Mark Cowan’s rink won 30-9, Ray Pretty’s rink won 22-15 and Lee Wesley’s rink won 23-16.

Marc Bullows rink suffered its first loss of the season, losing 24-12.

Club Sunbury sits atop the table, 15 points clear of second-placed Blackburn.
