Club Sunbury’s hot start to the Bowls Victorian weekend pennant division 1, section 1 season has continued with a third straight win.
Club Sunbury, which is the only team with a perfect record after three rounds, had little concern against Kingsbury, winning 90 (16)-74 (2).
Marc Bullows’ rink remained undefeated after winning 30-15. Sophie Kurzman and Paul Cullis have been in that rink all three weeks, while Rob Sutherland, who played in that rink on the weekend, also remains undefeated.
Lee Wesley’s rink won 26-16 and Ray Pretty’s rink won 19-16.
Mark Cowan’s rink lost their first match of the season, losing 27-15.
Club Sunbury’s David Glennon said it was a really good win for the side which were missing a couple of people.
“Another win to start the season,” he said. “It builds momentum and we have not been in this position for a while having won three off the bat.
“It is really good and it bodes well for the rest of the season.”
Glennon said Bullows again was one of the standouts, while Cullis was also strong in that rink.
Wesley had a good day, as did Mark Ryan in Ray Pretty’s rink.
Club Sunbury this week travels to Dandenong Club which sits eighth with one win.
It was a mixed weekend for Sunbury, with their second side having a draw and their third side having a 38 shot win, among the other results.
In the Central Highlands Bowls Division, Romsey remains undefeated after beating Kilmore.
It was a dominant display from Romsey, winning 67 (16)-38 (0).
Nathan Tessari’s rink won 21-14, Matthew Brundell’s rink won 20-13 and Damien Ely’s rink won 26-11.
Romsey has opened up a 21 point lead at the top of the table already.
Kyneton Golf sits second on the ladder having survived a scare against their local rival Kyneton.
Golf sneaking home 56 (14)-55 (2).
Barry Godbolt and Adrian Plowman were the winning skips for Golf, while Garry Candy was the winning skip for Kyneton.
Lancefield got its second win of the season, beating Gisborne, 63 (14)-52 (2). Bev Holmes had a 23-13 win for Lancefield, while Chris Jolly won 21-14.
Broadford beat Trentham in the other match.
In division 2, Gisborne 2, Woodend and Broadford took home the wins, while Romsey 2 and Kyneton Golf 2 had a draw.
Meanwhile in division 3, Diggers Rest 2, Kilmore 3 and Woodend 2 were the winners.
