Sunbury had no trouble accounting for bottom side Moonee Valley (2) in Bowls Victoria division 2, section 2.
In a battle between the top and bottom sides, Sunbury won 93 (18) – 63 (0) to maintain a nine-point lead at the top of the table.
Sunbury’s Dave Glennon said the win was never in doubt with all four rinks in front all day.
Mark Cowan continued his sensational form, with his rink winning 28-9, following a 25-9 win the week before.
Carla Krizanic won 21-18, Deeon Dean won 22-20, while Brad Willoughby won 22-16.
“We were pretty much in control, even though three of the rinks were reasonably close,” Glennon said. “It was a pretty slow track due to the rain.”
Cowan, the only player to skip every week, has now won 10 out of the 12 rounds. Krizanic has won her rink all seven weeks she has played.
Sunbury will be back to full strength this week, making for another difficult week at the selection table. They face Broadmeadows at Sunbury on Saturday.
“It is first versus fifth, so a win for them is crucial as they are a game-and-a-half outside the four. Hopefully, we can get another good win,” Glennon said.
The top side is one of three for Sunbury on top spot on the ladder with five rounds to go. Sunbury’s third and fifth teams head the ladders in their sections also.
